Your Lenten Contributions at Work

St. Elisabeth in Borga is completed thanks to your contributions through the Lenten Collections!

The church was painted yellow with blue accents. To prepare for the feast, they decorated the church with blue banners to match the blue accents. The open claustras allow the church to be very airy and bright, allowing much light to enter the room. The feast of St. Elisabeth was celebrated this past Sunday which included first communion celebrations. Pax Christi and From Here to Haiti were included in their prayers.

This is what P. Charlotin sent to From Here to Haiti;

Bonsoir Mme Patricia! I hope you are well. We are deeply moved to express to you our thanks for this beautiful gift that you have offered us. today we celebrate with joy, in a beautiful church, the feast of St. Elizabeth and it is thanks to your generosity. Therefore, in the name of the entire community of Borga, I send you and Pax Christi our sincere thanks! May God, by the intercession of St. Elizabeth, continue to fill you with his grace! Thank you very much Mms Patricia! Let us remain united in prayers! My benediction.

Here are a few pictures of before and after!

ST. AUGUSTIN IN MENDES:

We received the check #2697 for $6,859 for the roof of St. Gregory in Mendes. The feast of St. Gregory will be celebrated on the first Sunday in September, and they are certainly looking forward to celebrating under a brand-new roof. We will look forward to a beautifully completed church!

ST. JEAN BAPTISTE IN PASCALL, NEW PROJECT 2022-2023

We are waiting for a written response from P. Charlotin regarding St. Jean Baptiste in Pascal. He was really busy with finishing St. Elisabeth that it’s taking him a bit of time. These priests have so much work to do, especially since most of their chapels have fallen under the earthquake; our hearts go out to them. Here is a picture of the construction so far in Pascal. As you can see, we can offer to put the roof on. I estimate that the cost will be similar to Mendes since the sizes seem similar. As soon as I have those figures, I will let you know. (Note from Patricia Brintle, FHTH).

St. MICHEL ARCHANGE IN PIGNY, NEW PROJECT 2022-2023

The congregation gathers under a makeshift construction. The church needs to be completely done and has not been started at all. Their estimate is for $29,119 but includes everything from foundation to the roof and electricity. I explained to P. Charlotin that we could not take on this work because our corporate purpose does not allow us to do new construction, but we could help finish a construction that is already started, therefore, if the community of Pigny wanted to put up the walls, we could help them with the roof. However, since St. Jean Baptiste in Pascal is already putting up their walls, we can help them with the roof. He will:
a) speak with the community of Pigny to encourage them to put up the walls and next year we can help with the roof and
b) speak with the community of Pascal and tell them about our roof offer.

Here are some pictures of St. Michel Archange in Pigny. These pictures show the current makeshift situation.

As you can see, as long as we put our giving into the hands of the Lord, we will always know it will go to the good of his people. Thank you for your generous contributions!
